Identifying Family Violence: 3Rs Recognise, Respond, Refer

Time: 1:30pm-4:00pm

Location: Wyndham Civic Centre, 45 Princes Hwy, Werribee, VIC 3030 Cost: Free

Details:

As part of the 16 Days of Activism against gender based violence annual campaign, Wyndham Council is offering family violence training to the community to help strengthen the community response to this critical issue. Violence against women is the single biggest risk factor contributing to disease burden. The community plays an important role in supporting victim/survivors of family violence to seek help.

Delivered by GenWest, Identifying Family Violence: 3Rs is an evidence-based survivor-centred specialist training that addresses:

  • The drivers of violence against women and children
  • The link between gender inequality and family violence
  • How to identify family violence, respond in trauma-informed ways to victim-survivors, and find family violence services for support and referral
  • And how to engage in conversations that challenge community attitudes that reinforce gender inequality and violence

This training session would particularly suit community leaders, faith leaders, sports club leaders, and those who play an active role in leading and managing community groups and activities.
